Visit to Paris
A group of 50 students have recently returned from a visit to Paris. This was a combined trip for students studying A level French and A level Art.
During their time in Paris students visited Versailles Palace, the Eiffel Tower, Montmartre & Sacré Coeur area, a jazz club and they enjoyed a Seine river cruise.
The French students attended a patisserie class and had a walking guided tour of the most interesting sites – all in French!
Art students visited the Orsay and Picasso museums with opportunities for sketching.
A level French student Vinay said of the trip:
I can’t emphasise enough how much the trip to Paris has boosted my confidence on my journey to mastering French. I had always been a little afraid to speak French aloud, with the fear of making mistakes. I would often find myself staying within my comfort zone and speaking English whenever possible in class. However to my surprise, not long after arriving in Paris, I found myself conversing, laughing and joking with French natives! The trip to Paris forced us all to step outside of our comfort zones and the various activities such as the baking workshop; the visit to a French school and the guided tour of Paris encouraged us to interact as much as possible with the locals. One thing I loved about visiting Paris was seeing everything we have learnt about in class come to life. The activities on the trip fit in perfectly with our syllabus, and now I’d feel much more confident discussing things such as French heritage or French politics if they were to come up in our oral exam.
