WQE Summer Concert 2019
The final concert of the year is always a bittersweet event: a celebratory end to a busy and productive year, but also a farewell to the second year leavers.
This year, the concert was held on the Tuesday 2nd July in the University Road Drama Studio. With the beautiful evening sunshine streaming through the windows, we were treated to rich and varied performances from first and second year A Level Music students, members of the Open Mic and Bands enrichment and a very slimmed down WQE Choir! Music ranged in style from rap to classical, R&B to Music Theatre and jazz to punk rock, and ended with all performers joining in an uplifting rendition of The Beatles’ Here Comes the Sun.
We said a fond farewell to three quarters of the 2nd year A Level Music group (a tiny group of 4, and Jack was on holiday!) – three students who have shown real commitment to the music department, giving performances in various events and ensembles throughout their time here, as well as being heavily involved with music and drama productions outside of college.
Oriel Cooper (Viola), is planning to study Civil Engineering at Sheffield University, Olivia Needham (Voice) is hoping to read Music at Sheffield, and Joe Walden (Voice) has won a place at the prestigious Arts Educational school of Musical Theatre in London. We wish them all the very best and are sure they will be successful in their endeavours.
