The 16-19 Bursary Fund is available to all eligible students studying at WQE who are under 19 at the start of their course. This means-tested fund is available to provide help with the extra costs incurred by deciding to stay in education.
The 16-19 Bursary Fund is made up of two parts – a discretionary fund, administered by the College to support eligible students who face genuine financial barriers to participation, providing help with costs such as transport, meals, college trips or equipment and a guaranteed payment to Vulnerable Young People.
The eligibility criteria is split into five different bands which determine the support that will be available. This is reviewed on a termly basis as the amount available to each student is dependent on the overall number of students eligible for bursary support. Please note this may increase or decrease during the year.
A new application must be made at the start of each academic year and recent relevant evidence will need to be provided to support that application. The amount of money the government awards the college for the 16-19 Bursary Fund changes each year. As a result, the financial support available annually to individual students is dependent on the funding allocation received and the number of eligible students.
Application forms for the 16-19 Bursary Fund will be available during enrolment.
Students age 19 or over at the start of their course may be eligible to apply for discretionary support.
