Senior Premises Officer
Thank you for your interest in this post at WQE.
We believe that this is a particularly exciting time to be joining us, offering a real opportunity to make a difference in this thriving and vibrant Sixth Form College. We strive for excellence in all aspects of our work with students; their academic and wider achievements, their learning experiences, the support they receive in relation to their academic progress, their learning environment and their wider experience of College life. The College operates across two closely located campuses, the larger campus next to the University of Leicester on University Road and a smaller campus at Regent Road.
The Estates team comprises 10 full time and 19 part time staff, together with outsourced contractors in some areas. The team is responsible for maintaining a high quality, safe, clean, secure and well maintained environment, including all buildings maintenance, cleaning, communications, grounds maintenance, health and safety, lettings and security matters.
The College is seeking to recruit a second Senior Premises Officer, to work closely with the Estates Manager to provide outstanding facilities for students, staff and visitors in this busy and successful Sixth Form College. The successful applicant, in conjunction with other senior colleagues in the estates team, will be responsible co-ordinating the day to work of the College’s Premises Officers, ensuring full coverage of the shift rota at all times, deputising for the Estates Manager including in the key areas of fire safety and lockdown arrangements and participating fully in the First Aid arrangements.
The successful applicant will work on a day to day basis across both the University Road and the Regent Road campuses. The postholder will be required to become familiar with all estates matters on both campuses and will act as the lead in fire, lockdown and other emergency arrangements when the postholder is the most senior member of the estates team on the campus. As well as carrying out general and specialist maintenance across both College sites, the successful applicant will be responsible for performing regular compliance checks as specified in the College’s fire and other procedures.
Occasional shift work and weekend working will be required and the postholder will be subject to call outs.
This is a permanent, full time position commencing asap. The salary will be on the Sixth Form Colleges’ Support Staff pay scale 28-31 which ranges from £22,828 to £24,947 per annum. A defined benefit pension scheme is also offered as part of the remuneration package for this appointment.
The successful applicant will start the role as soon as possible.
